Practicing Peace in Times of War.  Six Thursday nights, 4/10-5/15, 7:15 pm.  A series of video teachings by Pema Chodron and Richard Roech, President of Shambhala International.  Videos & discussion.  Co-lead by Joe Mackie and Rosalyn Householder.  $8 class.

 

Shambhala Arts Festival, Friday-Saturday, May 23-24.   Opening reception & exhibition 7 pm, Friday. Shambhala arts represent a genuine contemplative path; they bring beauty, vividness and wisdom to our lives and culture. Workshops in the arts all day Saturday, including ceramics, dance, poetry, mudra space awareness, Ikebana. All welcome.  Performances (poetry, dance, & more) Saturday evening at 8 pm.  ($20 per workshop.)

Open House:  Monday night is Open House at 7 p.m.   Suitable for newcomers to Shambhala or to meditation.  All are welcome.  Free meditation instruction is available.  Sitting and walking meditation starts at 7 pm.  Tea at 7:40 Talks and discussions at 8:00-8:45.  Suggested donation: $5.

 

Nyinthun, Sun. May 25. A full day of group shamatha/sitting and walking meditation. 9-12 and 2-5 (3rd floor shrine room).  Direct experience of meditative insight is central to the Buddhist path.  Deepen your practice like an extended period of sitting and walking meditation. Meditation instruction/talks in the morning.  Maitri Bhavana practice at 4-5 pm for friends and relatives who are psychologically and/or physically ill. (Please add names to the list on the bulletin board in the hall outside the main shrine room, 3rd floor.  Come for all or part of the day.  All are welcome. Free. 

 

Shambhala Training Level V, “Open Sky.”.  Friday eve, 7 pm.; Saturday & Sunday all day: teachings, meditation instructions, discussion.
